For more than 40 years, PS Flood Barriers®, a division of PS
Industries®, has been designing and manufacturing flood protection systems for some of the world’s most demanding applications. Today, we help protect more than 45,000 flood openings worldwide, giving architects, engineers and owners the confidence that comes from proven performance.
Introduced in 2021, the Hydro1® Pedestrian Flood Door represents the culmination of four decades of engineering, testing and continuous innovation. It was engineered from the ground up as a purpose-built flood door, not simply a modified commercial door. Every component, from the door leaf and frame to the hinges, hardware and sealing system, is designed to resist the tremendous hydrostatic forces created by floodwaters while functioning as a reliable, everyday pedestrian entrance.

Since its introduction, Hydro1 has continued to set the benchmark for flood door performance by achieving:
- 90-minute UL positive pressure fire rating
- Florida Product Approval
- High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) approval
- FM Approval to ANSI/FM 2510 Standard for Flood Mitigation Equipment for applications up to 30 feet of hydrostatic head
- Exceptional leakage performance, approximately 50% below the maximum leakage permitted by ANSI/FM 2510
Hydro1 was engineered to do more than pass a laboratory test. It was designed to deliver dependable protection under the most demanding real-world conditions. Through ongoing engineering, rigorous third-party testing and independent certifications, PS Industries continues to refine and validate Hydro1 as standards evolve and project requirements become more demanding.
Hydro1 is also positioned for the future of code compliance. By
successfully completing the latest ANSI/FM Approvals 2510 testing and maintaining FM Approval certification, Hydro1 meets the new flood barrier testing requirements referenced in ASCE 24-24. This standard clarifies that flood barriers used to protect buildings must comply with ANSI/FM 2510 testing requirements. Future editions of the International Building Code are expected to reference the updated ASCE 24 standard, further establishing independently verified testing as a key requirement for code-compliant flood protection.
At PS Flood Barriers, our mission is simple: Protecting people and property. That commitment is why architects and engineers continue to specify Hydro1 on critical infrastructure projects, and why owners who understand the value of proven performance continue to ask for Hydro1 by PS Flood Barriers.
