Purchasing Manager

Reports to: Manufacturing Director

Position Summary:

Responsible for all activities related to purchasing while ensuring all related processes and procedures are effective. All items to be ordered to satisfy demand for all projects scheduled in the fabrication or box and ship areas.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide input and monitor the development or improvement of standard procedures for purchasing, receiving, and shipping purchased items
  • Manage Purchasing Support team
  • Promote accountability with employees in the purchasing functional area to ensure all daily responsibilities are completed to satisfaction
  • Items must be purchased and kept at optimum levels to accommodate current work order demand as scheduled
  • Outside service work orders and purchase orders to be created and costing monitored to ensure accuracy
  • Communicate to all PS INDUSTRIES’ teams as needed when purchased items need details verified
  • Vendor invoicing to be accurate before forwarding to accounts payable
  • Establish vendor relationships ensuring PS INDUSTRIES’ expectations are communicated
  • Secondary vendors to be established for critical inventory items
  • Vendor stocking agreements to be negotiated to obtain best pricing
  • Vendor grading/scoring by evaluating set criteria on a continuous basis and document on vendor scorecard
  • Inspections / rejections / NCFs to be monitored to ensure vendor scoring is aligned with these findings
  • Capital purchases

Basic Qualifications:

  • Management experience in an environment that includes fabrication processes
  • Must have the ability to effectively analyze vendor performance to ensure the receipt of acceptable products and services.
  • Data analysis skills to ensure costing accuracy
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lead your team to successfully prioritize multiple daily requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree or previous work experience in Purchasing Management or related field
  • Ability to work in ERP software to retrieve or monitor inventory levels and costing of purchased items
