Position Summary:

The Design Engineer will be part of a team that completes all design, development, and testing of new products and manufacturing processes. The purpose of this position is to promote company growth through the development of new and improved products and processes that deliver value to the customer and enhance company reputation. This position will coordinate projects with participating departments and serve as the primary designer, extensively utilizing SolidWorks 3D modeling to develop products from concept to completion.

Core Roles:

  • Design innovative products that exceed industry standards and deliver value to the customer
  • Plan and implement manufacturing processes that produce high quality products
  • Perform calculations and testing of products to ensure performance meets or exceeds expectations
  • Identify and implement cost and performance improvements to existing products
  • Fabricate prototypes for testing and review

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with marketing and sales departments to clearly define all product requirements and cost objectives
  • Participate in all stages of product development from conception through final design
  • Work closely with production employees to develop prototypes and evaluate manufacturability
  • Present product concepts and new product opportunities to various departments
  • Set and maintain scheduling milestones during the development process
  • Design and implement product improvements into existing product lines
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or an engineering or industrial technology degree
  • 1-10 years design/engineering experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, as well as work effectively on teams
