Position Summary:

As a designer, you will work closely with all phases of the manufacturing process. You will gain knowledge of the customer request resulting in the generation of a 3D model that will be translated to a drawing that will be submitted for customer review. Upon approval, you will generate fabrication drawings that will be released for manufacturing. Your product expertise will also extend beyond fabrication as you will provide customer support post shipment. This will be achieved by interacting and coordinating with the sales, design, engineering, purchasing, production, and shipping departments

Essential Job Functions:

  • Generate SolidWorks models for new and existing products in accordance to the provided drawings and specifications
  • Produce fabrication drawings by ensuring manufacturability
  • Independently manage multiple jobs with both fluctuating and binding deadlines
  • Participate by providing design intent enhancements and recommendations to current and proposed products
  • Navigate within the ERP system to ensure material uploads, requirements, routers, and BOM’s are accurate and match CAD models
  • Protect CAD file integrity by ensuring documents comply with product data management system
  • Interface with other company departments to provide clear and effective communication of assigned jobs
  • Generate all necessary shipping documents to ensure orders are accurately detailed and shipped complete
  • Conduct progress checks and provide design support during fabrication on assigned jobs
  • Administer product functionality support to sales, customers, and other relevant parties
  • Assist in the development of any necessary reference documents, such as installation, operations, maintenance manual, and work instructions

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an associate degree in Mechanical/Architectural Drafting, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Project Management and/or equivalent experience and training
  • Self-motivated with the ability to adapt to the demands of custom manufacturing
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a creative approach for generating new ideas while utilizing learning agility
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret existing drawings and specifications
  • Must have knowledge of design and drafting principles
  • Proficient in CAD based drafting software
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of mechanical drafting experience utilizing SolidWorks
  • Awareness of metal fabrication processes
  • Fluent in ERP system navigation
